General Motors Recalls 1.5 Million More Vehicles

March 17, 2014

It wasn’t a Happy St. Patrick’s Day for GM, who announced today that they were recalling 1,500,000 vehicles. CEO Mary Barra reported that the company was negligent in preventing faulty ignition switches linked to 12 deaths, which led to last month’s recall of 1.6 million cars. “Something went wrong with our process in this instance, and terrible things happened,” she told GM employees in a video message that was posted online.

That makes over 3.1 million vehicles recalled by General Motors in the last two months for not only the faulty ignition issue but also airbag wiring harnesses and brake parts affecting several models. GM also said on Monday it would take a $300 million charge in the first quarter to cover the costs related to all of their current recalls.
