Top Gear Stars Return for "The Grand Tour" Series

"The Grand Tour," in days past, was a tour of Western Europe undertaken in powerful cars by wealthy inhabitants of the region. It then evolved to become a designation given to powerful yet luxurious vehicles (abbreviated "GT"). Today, it's the name of a BBC television series created by some of the most beloved yet controversial petrol heads ever: James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson.

What are they up to now?

The Grand Tour is "a road trip in very exotic cars," says May. The boys will travel across four continents and move their tent/studio with them along the way. Not with them, literally, but it will be shipped so their audiences can see them wherever they are. However, rumors point out they got stranded somewhere along the way. We'll have to see what the problem is.

Apart from the touring, the guys seem to be up to the same shenanigans. You know, blowing things up, taking things apart, putting things together, failing to operate the things they've put together, comedy, mishaps, taunting and, of course, car worship. Oh! but there is one thing Telegraph noticed. The new series will be friendly to action movie fans, it appears. Several film settings have been recreated for the show, including Mad Max: Fury Road, Spectre, Lawrence of Arabia, The Italian Job and A View to Kill.

It will entertain. There's no question.

What will they drive?

Many cars. The opening sequence features over 100 cars. In the trailer, we see a tank of some kind, an Alfa, some 80s vehicles (par for the course, when it comes to this trio of drivers), lambos, ferraris, jet skis, VW dune buggies, something that looks like an old Land Cruiser with tree branches for doors and windows, a new Miata, a Lotus, a crane, a very fast-looking boat of some kind, a Camaro, and an Aston Martin Vulcan. These guys are, without a doubt, still appealing to the true auto fans among us.
